Why I Chose a Seasonal Campsite—And Why You Might, Too

For a long time, I went back and forth between continuing to travel from campground to campground or committing to a seasonal site. I loved the freedom of the open road and checking out new places, but there was something about the idea of having a “home away from home” that kept calling to me. Eventually, I took the leap—and let me tell you, I’m so glad I did!

Here are a few reasons why choosing a seasonal campsite has been one of the best decisions for my camping life:

Convenience, Convenience, Convenience One of the biggest perks? I can just hop in the car on a Friday afternoon and head straight to the site. No packing the trailer, no stressing over hookups or setups—everything is already there waiting. It’s like stepping into vacation mode the moment we pull in.

A Built-In Community
Seasonal camping comes with an amazing sense of community. The people we’ve met have quickly become more than just fellow campers—they’ve become friends, and in many ways, like family. There’s always someone to wave to, chat with over a morning coffee, or share a bonfire in the evening.

Perfect for Families
With kids, the seasonal setup is a total game-changer. There’s no scrambling to remember toys, gear, or food each weekend—it’s all there. And the kids love having familiar friends to run around with, which makes for more relaxing weekends for everyone.

Less Wear and Tear on Your Vehicle
Towing week after week can really add up. Having a permanent setup has meant fewer miles on our vehicle and a break from the constant hitching and hauling.

It Feels Like a Second Home
Over time, our site has become more than just a place to park the trailer—it’s our getaway, our reset button, our little piece of peace. There's something comforting about returning to the same spot and watching the seasons change from your own cozy corner of the campground.

If you’ve been on the fence like I was, I highly recommend giving seasonal camping a try. It just might be the perfect way to make the most of your weekends—and your summer.

Happy camping!
