Sweet Treats Around The Fall Campfire

When I think back to my childhood camping memories, one of the first images that comes to mind is the glow of the campfire at night. My siblings and I would sit shoulder to shoulder, giggling while waiting for our marshmallows to roast just right (or, let’s be honest, catch on fire). My parents always joined in too, and those evenings spent sharing stories, sticky fingers, and plenty of laughs became some of my most treasured memories.

Over the years, we tried every campfire dessert you could imagine—some were instant wins, and others were hilarious flops. Through all the experimenting, we discovered a handful of treats that became family favourites and ones we look forward to every single trip.

One that never disappoints is this fall-inspired twist:

 Campfire Apple Crisp Packets

Ingredients (per packet):

  • 1 apple (peeled and sliced)

  • 1 tbsp brown sugar

  • ½ tsp cinnamon

  • 1 tbsp butter

  • 2 tbsp granola or oats

  • Optional: a few mini marshmallows or caramel bits

Instructions:

  1. Lay out a square of aluminum foil.

  2. Place apple slices in the middle and sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.

  3. Add a small pat of butter on top.

  4. Fold the foil into a sealed packet.

  5. Place on the campfire grill (or barbecue) for 10–15 minutes until apples are tender.

  6. Carefully open and top with granola for crunch.

  7. Enjoy warm — it tastes like apple pie at the campground!

That’s just one of the fan-favourite campfire desserts we’ve collected for you. From gooey s’mores to skillet cookies and more, these recipes are guaranteed to bring smiles and sticky fingers to your camping crew.
