Buffalo-Style Bacon-Wrapped Burger (Camping Edition)
If you're looking to take your camping food game to the next level, this Buffalo-style bacon-wrapped burger is your secret weapon. It’s smoky, spicy, and indulgently wrapped in crispy bacon—basically everything a campfire meal should be.
I love prepping the patties ahead of time with a splash of buffalo sauce mixed right into the beef for that signature tangy heat. Wrapping each burger in bacon not only locks in moisture but adds that irresistible crunch and smoky flavor that pairs perfectly with the campfire vibe.
At the campsite, all you have to do is throw these beauties on the grill grate or in a skillet, then top with melty cheese and your favorite sauce. Serve it up on a toasted bun or lettuce wrap, and you’ve got yourself a bold, messy, utterly delicious campfire feast.
So next time you're planning your meals for the wild, ditch the plain burgers and bring the buffalo heat. Your crew will be talking about it long after the last ember fades.
Ingredients (serves 4):
1 lb ground beef (80/20 recommended)
1/4 cup buffalo wing sauce (plus extra for serving)
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
8 slices of bacon
4 slices pepper jack or blue cheese
4 burger buns or lettuce wraps
Ranch or blue cheese dressing (optional)
Toppings: sliced red onion, lettuce, pickles
Instructions:
Prep the Patties:
In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef with buffalo sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
Form into 4 equal patties. Make an indent in the center of each to help them cook evenly.
Wrap with Bacon:
Wrap 2 slices of bacon around each patty in a criss-cross pattern, tucking the ends underneath. (Use toothpicks to secure, if needed.)
Pack for the Trip:
Place patties between layers of parchment paper in an airtight container. Keep chilled in a cooler until ready to cook.
At the Campsite:
Cook patties over a campfire grill grate or in a cast iron skillet for about 5–6 minutes per side, or until the bacon is crispy and burgers are fully cooked.
Add cheese during the last minute of cooking to melt.
Toast the Buns (Optional):
Toast buns cut-side down for 30–60 seconds over the fire.
Assemble:
Add ranch or blue cheese dressing, lettuce, and sliced red onions if desired.
Serve on toasted buns—or go low-carb and wrap in lettuce leaves.
